BLOOMINGTON — In a decision that appeals to women’s rights activists and animatronic enthusiasts alike, The Rainforest Café at the Mall of America has given all of their female animatronic crocodiles lipstick and eyelashes for Women’s History Month.

The Cafe’s three female animatronic crocodiles, Mango, Starburst and Camilla have now each been outfitted with false eyelash extensions and a unique lip color that Rainforest Café marketing executive Dakota Henderson says expresses each crocodile’s “badass feminist vibe.”

“Our team realized that women, even animatronic reptile ones, can be both feminine and strong. These lady crocs are absolute boss queens who will not apologize for speaking their truth!” Henderson explains. The truth that Henderson is referring to is the regular pre-recorded crocodile noises overlaid with a voice that says things such as, ‘slay all day!’ ‘my favorite position is CEO’ and ‘there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women!’

Along with the updates to the female crocodiles, Rainforest Cafe is planning additional feminist initiatives in the restaurant. These include ensuring that all hosts remind guests to refer to all lion animatronics as queens of the jungle instead of kings of the jungle before they’re seated, having servers stop every time there’s a ‘thunderstorm’ in the restaurant to do a flash mob dance to Katy Perry’s “Roar” and make sure that the Cafe’s mascot Cha! Cha! the Frog stops by every table and says “well-behaved women rarely make hop-story- except in our gift shop where savings rain down every day!”

It‘s been confirmed that Mango, Starburst, and Camilla will wear lipstick and eyelashes for the rest of March and possibly beyond. Henderson confirmed that while the female crocodiles are still not paid as much as the male animatronic crocodiles Chomp and Kevin, the feminism awareness initiatives started this month are an “important first steps towards equality in the Cafe kingdom.”
