ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Republican party issued a tweet insisting that June 19th, also known as Juneteenth, which celebrates the freeing of enslaved people in the United States, should be a day in which Minnesotans remember that “all dates matter”.

“Though this date is historic in our country’s history, we should not let it overshadow the importance of the rest of the calendar. Why mitigate the importance of dates like National Ice Cream Day, the start of the NHL regular season, or that one Jewish thing with the candles? #alldatesmatter”

As of press time, GOP state legislators have proposed a measure to declare June 19th a holiday to commemorate the anniversary of the debut of Garfield.
